STATUS QUO: Street sports and rural sports form a key component of sports development yet in Nigeria today Street sports remains an unregulated and unfunded, low-end pass-time and rural sports is even further neglected.
Funding, facilities, organizational support and other structural neglect hamper the growth of amateur sports in Nigeria.
VISION: We will develop a robust collection of activities that ensures the participation of rural dwellers, artisans and amateurs in all of the sports we develop.
STATUS QUO: Sports
development in Nigeria has a deep focus on Football. In many other
arenas like Boxing, Lawn and Table Tennis we try but are not true Global
players.
In the arena of Swimming, Gymnastics, Golf, Athletics, Acrobatics etc., our participation is nothing worth noting.
VISION: We
will develop a comprehensive offering including events, competitions,
facilities, awards, teams and leagues for each sport with all the
auxiliary supports.
STATUS QUO: Schools represent a foundation point for sports development yet in Nigeria we find that school sports are falling apart as the public schools become housing for the low income and fields and complexes disappear.
Additionally, no remarkable platforms exist for competitions and recognition.
VISION:We
will partner with our investments in Education to build sports foundations that can be shared to external institutions and merged to the general development of sports in Nigeria.
STATUS QUO: At the heart of sports is the promotion and experience of sports by fans far and wide via modern media.
In Nigeria we still lag behind in independent media of global sports and even quality local events.
VISION: We will develop a multi-channel, multi-platform sports media NETWORK, designed to ensure maximum exposure for our sports and profiting from exclusive rights.
STATUS QUO: Professional sports come with injuries and health challenges specific to player life which also affect other active members of society.
As a nation focused on sustenance, we lack investment in core medicine and definetly ignore something as leisurely as sports medicine.
VISION: We
will integrate full scale sports medicine facilities with our Sporting Complexes and in partnership with our investments in Health Care, where locations are convenient we can integrate into independent Health Centres.
STATUS QUO: The development of sports has so many intricate and often ignored parts like apparel, balls and equipment etc.
Again Nigeria relies on importation to access virtually all items needed for successful sports activities.
VISION: We
will integrate with all other developments under the Vision 1960 community to ensure the coordination of investments to allow the home grown development of the entire industry of sports.
